Lisa Orgler, Assistant Director of Planning and Programs for Reiman Gardens in Ames, will present Risking Danger for Beauty: Victorian Plant Explorers. Orgler received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University. She has presented lectures in past years of this series on Victorian Gardening and Victorian Parlor Gardening. In this lecture she will discuss the nineteenth-century boom in plant exploration. Many people risked their lives in the far corners of the earth to bring back fascinating new plants. This presentation will highlight some of those adventures to uncover how common plants traveled the globe and arrived in your garden
