DETROIT, March 21 /PRNewswire/ -- General Motors was recently honored as the "Company of the Year" by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) at its national conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. SHPE is a national organization of professional engineers who serve as role models in the Hispanic community.

The Company of the Year Award is given to a company or organization based on its assistance in meeting SHPE's goals, enhancing the achievement of Hispanic employees, dedication and commitment to the advancement of the Society's growth and partnership with public schools.

GM has been active in recruiting Hispanic employees, developing minority dealer and supplier programs, and partnering with Hispanic educational organizations.
