ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Robert L. Wright,
chairman and CEO of Dimensions International, a leading information
technology company, was named to a presidential commission charged
with creating a plan of action for a national museum of African
American history to be located on or near the National Mall in
Washington, D.C.
House Republican Conference Chairman J.C. Watts, Jr. (R-Okla.), a
sponsor of legislation to create the commission, was named an
ex-officio member along with fellow sponsor Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.).
Six leaders from around the country were named by Speaker of the House
J. Dennis Hastert as voting members of the commission. The commission
will develop a plan of action and an appropriate site for a museum.
The Senate majority leader and president are expected to make their
appointments to the commission soon.
"A major museum that illuminates the contributions of African
Americans to our nation's culture and heritage will be an exciting
addition to the National Mall," said Wright. "I am honored to be among
those who will help develop it and will do all that I can to justify
the confidence that Speaker Hastert has placed in me."
Wright has more than 30 years of experience in government,
business, financial, and project management. He is the former
associate administrator for minority small business at the Small
Business Administration. Wright co- founded a political consulting
firm with a broad range of skills in race relations, research,
minority affairs, and policy. He is active in the Washington,
D.C.-region's business community and serves on many technology and
business-related organizations. Wright was recently named the region's
technology Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young, and Man of the
Year by the National Federation of Black Women Business Owners.
